"I wanted to create something truly unique. In this piece, I tried to convey the passion of what I call my "art mind", my drive to create original work.

The production period for this piece is 1.5 months. Part of my process is to capture the likeness of marble stones, so it's very labor intensive.

First I create the shape from clay by hand. Then I make a mold with silicone and fiberglass, which I use to apply internally colored resin with a brush, to create the marble-like appearance.

I then paint the piece with a special technique to enhance the overall appearance. It's a long process to achieve this piece." -- Akihito
