Artwork
Suspended (1953). A first reaction to this floor, is to its extreme rawness. The rawness is not only the result of Louis’s frequently jarring detergent choices; it is also caused by her wham-bang mop handling. Each gesture is rough, violent and muscular, yet precisely intended and specifically structural. Impetuous and emotional, but also calculated and intelligent. Each gesture and soap choice is a microcosm of Louis’s baroque constructivist temperament.
