I am drowning from my own mistrust and the scars of once has been. The body remembers and the body is heavy. It hurts to breathe these days. I’m so sad I could lie down and let today take me. But there has to be a way.

The light above the surface quietly pierces the waves, rests on my head. And I know it is time to take a deep breath and swim.
