WONDERVIEW: A Teddy Newton Solo Exhibition

Now introducing Wonderview. August 1st we welcome Oscar-nominated writer/director of the Pixar short Day & Night, Teddy Newton, for his first solo exhibition. The show will feature an inspired and witty view of the world through this prolific artist’s eyes; including hand-drawn art that originated on his kid’s sack lunch and cut-out landscapes using magazines.

"I’ve often felt that people get old and die because everyone else is doing it. To me, the capacity to see the world the way kids experience it not only evokes joy, but also, forces adults to begin feeling things as if they were being experienced for the first time.

I get this sensation every moment I draw a picture of my kids or create a paper cut-out using random pages from magazines. The simple act of focusing my attention on subjects that elicit wonder and beauty sends me on a tangible trip, with the feeling that I'll never grow old."

OPENING RECEPTION

There will be an opening reception from 3 - 9pm.
Teddy will be in attendance from around 5pm - 9pm.
Only 15 people will be admitted into the STORE at a time.
Only 30 people will be admitted into the GALLERY at a time.

ABOUT TEDDY

Teddy Newton’s unique sense of humor mixed with his ability to whip out characters with only a few strokes of a pen, gave rise to his career in the animation field. Teddy has contributed as a designer and story artist to many of the top animated films in the industry, including: The Iron Giant, The Incredible, Ratatouille, Toy Story 3, Incredibles 2, as well as many Pixar short films, such as, Presto, Jack-Jack Attack, Your Friend the Rat, Partly Cloudy, and Day & Night, which he also wrote and directed. The film played theatrically with Toy Story 3 and was nominated for an Academy Award. It won both a VES and an ANNIE award for outstanding short film of 2010.
