Join us for a special book signing celebrating the release of Fireworks, the Caldecott Medal–winning picture book by artist Catia Chien. As a long time friend and contributor to the gallery, we are honored to welcome Catia back to the gallery to celebrate this remarkable achievement.
Catia will also be accompanied by award winning author / illustrator LeUyen Pham! They will have a conversation about picture books, awards, and the publishing industry starting 6:00 PM PT.
Come meet both of these amazing artists and hear about their inspiration and process behind their books. We will have plenty of copies of their books available for signing!

ABOUT FIREWORKS
Fireworks is a sparkling picture book from the award-winning team of Matthew Burgess and Cátia Chien, highlighting the simple delights of a steamy July day in the city as two siblings eagerly anticipate a spectacular fireworks display.

ABOUT CATIA CHIEN

Cátia Chien is the 2026 RANDOLPH CALDECOTT MEDAL winner, New York Times/New York Public Library Best Illustrated and Gold Medal winner at the Society of Illustrators for Original Art for FIREWORKS. She is also the gold Medal winner at the Society of Illustrators for Original Art for THE BEAR AND THE MOON. A 3x Golden Kite Award for picture book illustration winner, for The Longest Letsgoboy, The Bear and the Moon and A Boy and a Jaguar, an ALA Notable Book and recipient of the Schneider Family Book Award. She was a co-editor and a contributor on the ground breaking series Flight comics anthology. Her art has been shown in galleries worldwide including the Beijing National Gallery and the Bologna Children's Book Fair exhibition. She is also the founder of A THOUSAND WORLDS - a curated picture book directory celebrating BIPOC creators.
She lives in the bay area with her family.
ABOUT LAUYEN PHAM
LeUyen Pham (pronounced Lay-Win) is an award-winning and critically acclaimed illustrator of over 100 books for children. Born in Vietnam, LeUyen and her family fled the country in the final days of the Vietnam War. She grew up in Southern California and loved to doodle and draw.
LeUyen worked as a layout artist for DreamWorks Feature Animation while working on children's books on the side. She is now a New York Times bestselling illustrator of the Julianne Moore’s picture book series, Freckleface Strawberry, Kelly DiPucchio’s picture book Grace for President, and Shannon and Dean Hale’s middle grade series Princess in Black, as well as Vampirina Ballerina picture book series by Anne Marie Pace and many more!
LeUyen lives in Los Angeles with her husband Alex (who is also an artist), and their two sons, Adrian and Leo.
